DeltaGest Capital, SGOIC, an exclusively Angolan capital company, has just
launch the first Venture Capital Funds in the Republic of Angola. It is a
new financial instrument in the Angolan market whose main objective is to
provide its participants with an investment alternative in Kwanzas, which
allows the diversification of portfolios, with increased profitability in assets through
of an investment that, due to the enormous impact on the social, economic,
cultural and environmental will have highly positive repercussions on governance
business in the country.
The two Funds – Greenfield and Brownfield – closed and private subscriptions, already
are registered with the Capital Markets Commission and will have a capitalization
maximum of 7.5 billion kwanzas with a total of 600 participation units.
While the Greenfield Fund will be concerned about the environment,
sustainability and corporate governance of its investments (“ESG”), the Fund
Brownfield will be a “Venture Capital” type dedicated to opportunities related to
diversification of the economy and the development of local content in the different
national value chains.
The investments will be made through the acquisition of share capital,
subscription of capital increases, contracting and subscription of debt instruments
or hybrid instruments and intended to finance companies operating
in areas of economic activity in the extractive and manufacturing industries,
assets providing technological services, assets with potential but in process
renegotiation of debts with banks, active in the embryonic process of
development of start-ups in the IT and FinTech sector and all kinds of assets that
support the process of development of national production.
These new financial instruments are mainly aimed at investors, public
and private companies, who wish to diversify their portfolio and take advantage of opportunities for co-investment with specific tax benefits.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of DeltaGest Capital, Eng. João Saraiva
dos Santos, considers this to be the ideal moment to launch this type of
Venture Capital in Angola because “the regulator, the Capital Markets Commission, and
potential investors have already reached a level of competence and robustness of
international “standard” that allows DeltaGest Capital to have confidence in success
of this capitalization process. The success of the recent privatization of Banco BAI via
BODIVA is a clear example of this development of the mechanisms and processes of
Capital Markets in Angola.”
DeltaGest's PCA also underlines that “everyone in the company is aware of the enormous
responsibility inherent to this process and, as they are among the first
Venture Capital registered with CMC to be launched in the Republic of Angola, all
steps will be conducted transparently and per recent legislation
on Money Laundering, so that the credibility of the money market
Angolan capital is protected”.
The capitalization process of the Greenfield and Brownfield Venture Capital Funds will
take place over the next 5 months.
